Friars play record 12 extra inning contest...take 2 of 3 from Bucs in series

Game 1 - Tony Fernandez single in the 3rd and Junior Ortiz sac fly in the 7th are the only runs through 12. Top of the 13th, Pirates break out for 4 runs - three singles, a sac fly, and Jim Morrison's 3-run HR give the opener to the Pirates 5-1.

Game 2 - A six-run 2nd inning and a seven-run 5th lead to a 14-6 rout by the Padres. Jerald Clark belted a pair of HR, as did Gary Sheffield.

Game 3 - Padres take a 3-1 lead into the 5th. Bobby Bonilla's HR cut the lead to 3-2, and in the 6th, Andy Van Slyke's 2-run triple puts the Buccos up 4-3. Gary Sheffield's solo HR in the 8th off Don Robinson ties the game at 4. Top of the 9th, a walk and a single set up Tony Gwynn's game winning hit. Jose Melendez works the 9th for the save.
