Drysdale-Koufax-Spahn notch wins as LA takes 2 of 3 from BSN

8/24 - 8/26 - Braves Field - Boston, MA
GAME 1 - Dodgers 16, Braves 1

Willie_Davis_LAD The Dodgers dropped a 6-spot on Brave starter Max Surkont (1-1, 3.43) in the top of the 1st and never looked back. "Double D", Don Drysdale (2-1, 0.69) gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the frame, then proceeded to scatter 7 more hits the rest of the way and not allow another run.  The only homer hit in the game came from "3-Dog", Willie Davis in the top of the 8th.  Davis had a career day at the plate (4-5, 3 runs scored and 6 RBI).  Sibby Sisti went 3 for 4 in a losing effort.

GAME 2 - Dodgers 5, Braves 0
The Braves must consider themselves lucky.  After scoring 1 runSandy_Koufax_LAD vs Drysdale they "luck out" and get to face that Koufax guy.  For most pitchers going 8 1/3 shutout innings and fanning 8 would be an outstanding day.  For Sandy Koufax (2-0, 1.65), it was just another day at the park.  Ron Perranoski came on to close it out after Sandy tossed 142 pitches.  There was no score in the game until the Dodgers broke it open with 5 in the top of the 8th.  The catalyst, Maury Wills led off with a single and moved to third when Willie Davis singled.  Ron Fairly walked to load the bases and Darrell Griffith singled home Wills.  After Tommy Davis struck out Earl Torgeson booted a hot smash by Dick Tracewski, which allowed Davis to score.  From there the floodgates opened up and LA cruised home to victory.

GAME 3 - Braves 3, Dodgers 2
Warren_Spahn_BSN Phil Ortega continued LA's pitching domination with 6 innings of 1 run ball, but he tired and Ron Perranoski could not protect the 2-1 lead.  Boston's Warren Spahn (3-1, 1.77) never tires as evidenced by the fact that he went the distance and gave up just 2 runs.  The Braves tied it in the bottom of the 7th when catcher Bob St. Claire singled home Spahn who led off the inning with a double.  In the 8th the Braves went ahead on a Roy Hartsfield single, which Tommy Davis played into a 2 base error that allowed pinch runner Marquez to score.
