Bucs stop Amazin's @ Three RIvers

August 12 at Three Rivers Stadium.
Jim Morrison opened the bottom of the third with a single, the first hit off Tom Seaver. RJ Reynolds followed with a single and Rick Reuschel sacrificed the runners up. Johnny Ray singled both home and the Pirates had a 2-0 lead. With two out, Bobby Bonilla walked and Barry Bonds took Seaver deep for a three run homer. That was all Reuschel needed as he scattered five hits and allowed no runs. Bonds would homer again off Seaver in the 8th to make the final Pirates 6 Mets 0

August13 at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Mets got their first run of the season in the second. Del Unser opened the inning with a double but Jerry Grote bunted the ball too hard and Unser was thrown out at third. Mike Phillips singled Grote to third and Jerry Koosman's ground out produced the run. Bonds led off the bottom of the frame with a walk. He stole second and was doubled home by Andy Van Slyke. The Pirates added a second run in the third without the benefit of a hit. Jose Lind led off and was safe on Ed Kranepool's error. Lind moved to second when Koosman was called for a balk. He went to third on John Cangelosi's ground out and scored on Bobby Bonilla's sacrifice fly. Mike Diaz added a homer in the 8th for the Bucs. Mike Dunne got the win and John Smiley the save. Koosman took the loss Pirates 3 Mets 1

August 14 at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Mets again scored first when Feliz Millan led off the game with a double. He went to third on Unser's single and scored on Kranepool's sacrifice fly. Bond led off the 4th with a single and went to second on Sid Bream's walk. Junior Ortiz singled home Bonds and Cangelosi doubled home Bream. But in the 8th, with one out, Kranepool singled and Dave Kingman walked. Rusty Staub singled to load the bases. John Smiley came in and struck out Wayne Garrett but gave up a pinch hit two run single to Mike Vail. Bob Walk took the loss in relief. Jon Matlack got the win and Bob Apodaca the save. Mets 3 Pirates 2
