Blue Jay Way...Toronto sweeps Bosox

8/16 - Rogers Center - Blue Jays 9, Red Sox 0
Boston southpaw Mickey McDermott got rocked for 9 runs in 4 innings worth of work. Vernon Wells hit 2 homers and had 4 RBI's. Shea Hillenbrand hit a two run shot himself. Surprise starter, Pete Walker, tossed 7 scoreless innings and left after he hit his 100th pitch, but not before notching the victory.

8/17 - Rogers Center - Blue Jays 4, Red Sox 2
Boston ace, Mel Parnell tweaked his right knee and was forced to leave the game in the 4th. It wasn't as if he was having a banner day (3.1 IP / 3 ER), so maybe it was a blessing that he left. Red Sox relievers Ellis Kinder and Brickner went almost 5 innings and yielded only 1 run, but their opponent Roy "Doc" Halladady was in the process of being very stingy. Halladay went 7 and gave up 2, before leaving after his 100th pitch. Batista pitched a scoreless 8th and Frasor did the same by fanning 2 in the 9th for the save. Shea Hillenbrand's (3 for 4, 2 RBI) homer in the bottom of the 1st was his 2nd in 2 days.

8/16 - Rogers Center - Blue Jays 5, Red Sox 2
Josh Towers went the distance and threw just 103 pitches in the process of defeating the Bosox. Blue Jay manager Justin Ryan is very cognizant of his starter's pitch counts. Not one of the three starters that he chose this series threw more than 103 pitches. Red Sox starter Sid Hudson also went the distance and fanned 10, but he gave up 5 runs in the process. 4 of those runs were earned. An error by Ted Lepcio at 2nd led to the 5th run. The big news had to be Shea Hillenbrand (2 for 2 - 2 runs) hitting his 3rd homer of the series. Hillebrand now has a homer in 3 consecutive games.
