Tribe Scalps M’s in 4 to advance to LCS

ALDS:  ‘58 CLE (1) vs ‘93 SEA (4)
GAME 1 - Cle Municipal Stadium
Indians 10, Mariners 0
Larry_Doby_CLE Coming off their fantastic "Play in" game victory over Anaheim the M's arrived flatter than a pancake.  To their credit they held it together until Cleveland struck for 3 in the bottom of the 5th.  Cal McLish was cruising and scattered 6 hits in a complete game victory.  Larry Doby was the hitting star with  2 homers and 5 RBI on a 3 for 4 day.  Minnie Minoso added a solo shot of his own.

GAME 2 - Cle Municipal Stadium
Mariners 3, Indians 1

Seattle evened the series as Erik Hanson outdueled MudcatErik_Hanson_SEA Grant.  With the score tied at 1, Seattle posted 2 runs in the top of the 8th when Tino Martinez singled home Litton and Ken Griffey Jr. scored on a Dave Valle sac fly to Minoso in left.  Norm Charlton came on to blow the Tribe away in the bottom of the 9th to record the save.  Rocky Colavito and Larry Doby fanned for the 1st and 3rd outs of the inning.

GAME 3 - Kingdome
Indians 6, Mariners 2
Don_Ferrarese_CLE Randy Johnson picked the wrong time to not have his stuff.  Johnson couldn't survive the 8th inning and left the game with 6 runs allowed (4 earned).  His opposing number, the unheralded Don Ferrarese, was rock solid going 8 and giving up only 2.  After the M's scored 2 in the bottom of the 6th cut Cleveland's lead in half Ferrarese did not allow another run.  The Indians scored 2 insurance runs in the 8th to seal the deal.  Larry Doby hit 2 run shot in the 4th.  Both teams had 8 hits, but Cleveland made theirs count for more runs.

GAME 4 - Kingdome
Indians 11, Mariners 3

Cleveland scored early and often off of Dave Fleming, who gaveMinnie_Minoso_CLE up 10 runs (6 earned) in less than 5 innings of work.  Minnie Minoso was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI/Runs and a homer.  Gary "Ding Dong" Bell won again and hasn't lost all season as the Indians closed out this series in style.  Ken Griffey Jr. fanned 3 times and avoided a 4th with a solo shot in Seattle's 3 run 8th inning.  After the game the home town fans saluted their team for their valiant effort to just get to the post season.  Lost in the shuffle was the 5 RBI day by Indian catcher Dick Brown.

The 1958 Cleveland Indians advance to the LCS to play the 1974 Chisox.
