The Tribe sweeps Bosox

After a 5 game skid Bill Keller's Tribe has completely righted the ship by winning 6 in a row and becoming the first KOD9 team to reach the 20 win plateau.  After sweeping the Blue Jays to get back in the race the Bosox returned home and blew a stinker by getting swept and virtually ending their chances of catching Cleveland

9/15 - Fenway - GAME 1 - CLE 8, BOS 5
Time 3:43,  75ø,  5mph In from CF

Rocky_Colavito_CLE Rocky Colavito continued his onslaught on AL pitching by going 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored to increase his average to .409.  Hank Narleski (3-2, 4.94) had a true quality start going 8 and yielding 3.  Sid Hudson (2-5, 4.36) couldn't escape the 5th inning for Boston, who entered this series on such and emotional high after sweeping Toronto thanks to Ted Williams' weekend pass to Fenway.

9/16 - Fenway - Game 2 - CLE 7, BOS 6 (10 inn)
Time 4:03,  73ø, Light Rain,  10mph Right to Left
Boston showed some fight by tying it up in the bottom of the 8thRuss_Nixon_CLE when Billy Goodman singled home Hoot Evers.  Cleveland countered by bringing knuckleball king Hoyt Wilhelm on board to shut down the Bosox.  Cleveland took the lead in the top of the 10th when Minnie Minoso and Vic Wertz walked on consecutive at bats and Russ Nixon singled Wertz home.  Nixon carried the offensive load for the Tribe who were without the services of Colavito.  Nixon was 4 for 5 with a homer and 4RBI's.

9/17 - Fenway - Game 3 - CLE 5, BOS 3
Time 3:39,  70ø, Light Rain,  10mph Left to Right

Roger_Maris_CLE Herbie Score got a rare start and had himself a shutout going until Boston scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th to make the game look close.  Don Ferrarese came on in the 8th to get the final 4 outs to close out the sweep.  Dizzy Trout (0-2, 6.35) looked like he was auditioning for a spot on the '62 Mets staff by giving up 11 hits and 5 runs in 8 sorrowful innings of work.  Trout's 6.35 ERA keeps rising.  Colavito missed his second consecutive game, but Nixon (3-4, 2RBI) again picked up the slack.  Score himself was 2 for 3 and a young rookie to watch, Roger Maris played flawlessly in right and went 2 for 5 in the lead off spot.  Everything is coming up roses for the Tribe.
