‘92-Padres sweep ‘52 Braves

Game 1 – Braves Field – Boston, MA

San Diego edged 3-2. The Padres score 2 runs in the ninth inning. Randy Myers comes in to make matters interesting in the 9th, but holds on for his first save of the season. Tony Fernandez drives the tying and winning runs.  Winning pitcher was Tim Scott (1-0).  Triple Crown Watch...Sheffield 1 for 3 with no homeruns or RBI.

Frank Seminara pitched a strong game as he went 6 innings and  surrendered only one run on three hits.  Tony Fernandez went 2 for 4 and drove in 2 runs. Randy Myers came on in the ninth, and despite serving up a homerun to Gordon, nailed down his second save in as many games. Triple Crown Watch: Sheffield went 0-3 Padres win...5-3

Game 3

San Diego got homeruns from Gary Sheffield (14) and Santiago (6) to down the Braves as San Diego swept the 3 game series. Bruce Hurst had a strong performance on his way to his 4th victory of the season.  Hurst went 8 innings surrendering 2 runs on 5 strikeouts.  Triple Crown Watch: Sheffield went 1 for 2 with a homerun and 2 RBI's....Padres win 6-2.  Shef’s season totals with 12 games left to play are:  .377-14-36.
